Darcy Baggett, LCSW, LLC

Helping young people feel heard, valued, and supported.

Serving children, teens, young adults and their families.

Meet Darcy

My own experiences as a misunderstood teen shaped my passion for helping young people feel heard, valued, and supported. Easy-going and non-judgmental, I offer a safe, comfortable space and a friendly atmosphere in which to talk, play, and be creative. Genuine, trusting relationships are important, so I will listen and empower you, rather than tell you what to do. If you love animals, I have therapy pets join our work when appropriate.

Areas of Specialization

As a clinical social worker with over 30 years experience working with children, youth and young adults in public school settings, I have extensive experience in school-related needs and challenges. However, I have other clinical experience too! Emotional regulation, adoption-related concerns and feelings, creative expression, and animal-assisted therapy are all in my toolbox.

  • As the sibling of an adoptee, an adoptive parent, and a graduate of the accredited Training for Adoption Competency program, I have had a life-long interest in the impacts of adoption on individuals and families. It is essential that clinicians are specifically trained in this area in order to support adoptees and families appropriately.

  • In addition to traditional counseling, I help families navigate school systems, understand various types of school support, decode educational jargon, and help young adults discover their post-secondary paths.

  • With a life-long interest in the human-animal bond, I am currently working on my certification as an animal-assisted psychotherapist through the Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado. I am the owner and handler of a former therapy dog, Arnie, and I often partner with cats and kittens in my work with young people.

  • While I am not a formally-trained art therapist, I have a long-term interest in alternative, creative expression largely because traditional talk therapy doesn’t meet the needs of all clients, particularly young children.

  • Many people can feel overwhelmed or exhausted by their children’s “meltdowns,” “temper tantrums” or “outbursts” at home or at school. What can you do? I’m here to help you and your child manage those big feelings.
